Sunday in our house is family day. Its the one day the Marvelous Mummy & I are both off every week so despite the chance to earn some extra money with a day’s overtime, I find myself instead spending both money and time with the Fam!
MM took our two dementors to Church this morning while I caught up on some sleep! If you follow my ramblings regularly, let’s face it why wouldn’t you, then you will have seen my recent post on Dudeism, my religion of choice. It very much teaches us to just take it easy, scripture I take very seriously, so that’s what I did
I stayed in bed! Why is it that you can always sleep soundly when you know you could be up doing constructive things, like tackling the Worlds only actively growing mountain, my ironing pile or mowing the lawn. Well maybe not mowing the lawn, since I possibly killed the lawnmower last night half way through cutting the back garden. Anyone handy with a Mountfield?
Anyway, dragging myself out of bed I enjoyed a peaceful house and a long hot shower, except there was no hot water, so for the second time this week I braved a 2 second freeze fest, cursing my beloved Wife throughout!
Before I had the chance to enjoy a cuppa in glorious solitude the clan were back & we were on our way to lunch. Monroe’s has taken over the former Frankie & Benny’s site in Ballymena, changing the menu & name but leaving the interior pretty much intact. It was our first ever visit, so not knowing what to expect on a Sunday afternoon just after payday we booked a table online.
Turns out, like my only ever visit to Revolution De Cuba, where I rang ahead to book a table for 45 minutes later & the waiter took all my details, read them back to me before confirming my reservation, all while neglecting to tell me the restaurant was completely empty, I needn’t have bothered.
Monroe’s, though far from busy, was simple but tasty diner style grub and we got through one pizza, a blue cheese burger with dirty fries, Brie parcels, sweet potato fries and a kids sausage meal. Fast attentive a service and all for £45!
It was then time for a trip to the toy store, after a quick stop for shoes at Benny Dunnes or Dunnes Stores as everyone except my granny calls it.. Apparently she
knew Mr Dunnes
Finally it was time for Smyths Toy Superstore. DD1 has had his eye on some Toy Story 4 merchandise, which seems to be reduced despite the Movie not being out yet. I think they have things back to front. Anyway as he handed over £14 for a talking Forky figure from TS4 I couldn’t help but grudgingly admire Disney & Pixar!
They have created a character which is nothing more than a plastic spork with a lump of clay stuck to its base & pipe cleaners for arms. They haven’t even tried to disguise this, yet here we are, like many other fans, buying it!
DD2 added Lewis Hamilton to his ever expanding Disney Pixar Cars collection while I expanded my collection of sod all as usual! I did take a shine to a flintstones Lego set, if anyone reading this wants to gift this to me
And then it was back in the car, 25 minutes of the Greatest Showman soundtrack, song 5 on repeat and we are home, watching, you guessed it, Television.
How else can you spend a Sunday? Unless it’s with sport and beer or on Vacation or watching movies.... Sunday has always been my least favourite day of the year, it’s a bit like hangover limbo between Saturday and Monday.
