six point three percent.. We will repeat that for anyone who thought they misheard, 6.3% This was beer number one in our craft ale guide
Broadside was first brewed in 1972 to mark the three-hundred year anniversary of the Battle of Sole Bay. Brewed with Pale Ale malt and First Gold hops, Broadside is a dark ruby red beer, rich in fruitcake aromas, almonds and conserved fruit. On initial pour it does have a Dark ruby red almost chocolate like tone. The light head costs the glass like a rim of margarita salt, and hangs around as the glass empties Not as powerful in the nose as some similar brews I have tasted. This is however Extremely refreshing on the first and following tastes. It has a Pleasant finish with a with a great after taste leaving you wanting more and more Only after reading mr tierny-Jones review did I identify the coffee mocha creaminess! But he is spot on and once you know what to taste for its noticeable As recommended on the bottle we paired it with a generous chunk of red onion chutney infused cheddar, Which compliments it very well, giving you a richly satisfying beer and cheese combo.. Cheers to the battle of solebay 1672
