The Devil's Washtub is a special edition release from the Lacada Brewery, A brewing Co-Operative located in the Famous Holiday resort of Portrush, Northern Ireland.
We have had a couple of this groups brews in our fridges for a few months and have them pencilled in for a full review in the next month or so. Im gonna leave the full company run down until that article, so Today is all about the Washtub
Named in honour of a well known landmark at Ramore Head, The Devil's Washtub is a 5.2% ABV IPA. We picked ours up at one of our favourite local treasure troves and decided it would ft perfectly as our special Christmas Eve Eve Brew. The bottle was somewhat festive after all.
Brewed with four malts and no oats, the brewing process makes use of a Mashing Regime / Ratio that gives plenty of body in the finished product. Described as being Silky Smooth and not too dry, the big malt flavours of coffee, caramel and liquorice ensure this big hitting ABV is suprisingly easy to drink.
With a rich dark pour and an off white head, much like the break in the North Coast Surf. Devil's Washtub, for its ABV is very easy to drink, with a full caramel flavour and a quality brought by its small batch brewing process, this is one that i am glad I got more than one bottle of. Aided, perhaps by the festivities of the season, this special edition gets high marks.
Its given me a thirst to try the other bottles from this co-op and hopefully any other special editions they try their hand at
We picked a few bottles up on a 2 for £5 deal at Lustys Centra, Larne
